The Maryland General Assembly approved in its 2013 Regular Session, and the governor of Maryland signed into law, a law that expanded the scope of the local-content laws already on the books in that state.
As approved by the governor on May 16, 2013, bill HB191/SB47 altered the existing Maryland Buy American Steel Act to (among other changes) include American manufactured goods, to require a public body to require that certain contractors and subcontractors use or supply only American manufactured goods under certain procurements, to require the Board of Public Works to adopt certain regulations regarding the granting of a preference for the use of American manufactured goods.
