ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 7 October 2011, the Slovenian authorities notified the European Commission on their intention to grant regional aid of EUR 40 million to the Revoz, d.d., for its production facility in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. The invested state money would be used to initialise production of two car models - the new Renault Twingo and the new Smart 4 seater.
The beneficiary, Revoz, is a subsidiary of the Renault S.A.
However, on 18 July 2013, Slovenia withdrew its notification and reduced its regional aid package to the amount of EUR 38.1 million which was "below the applicable notification threshold laid down in Art.6(2) of the GBER" (para. 3, letter from the EC to Slovenia, Brussels 22.10.2013). The amount will be issued completely in the form of a direct grant to Revoz (para. 4).
A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
