Import tariff

On 2 June 2014, Sri Lanka decided to reduce the import tariff concessions granted to milk powder importers from Rs. 68 to Rs. 43 per kilogram.

The authorities motivated by the move with the fall of global milk powder prices. The reduced concession shall protect the local industry by discouraging excessive imports.

The concessions were last increased in February to Rs. 68 per kg. from Rs 18 per kg. (see related measure).
