ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 13 March 2014, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution no. 19 reducing the import tariffs on 26 goods belonging to the IT-sector from 16% to either 2% or 0%. Seven of the goods are new ex-tarifários while the remaining 19 have been extended.
Ex-tarifários are goods with a tariff exception to the Mercosur Common External Tariff. The goal of the reduced tariff is to restructure Brazil's industrial park and infrastructure services by incentivizing investments in capital or IT goods. An exception from the Mercosur Common External Tariff can be invoked in case of a shortage or no domestic production of the good in question.
The measure took effect on 17 March 2014 and lasts until 31 December 2015.
