ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 21 April 2010, Indonesia introduced a 7.5 per cent import duty on incompletely knocked down motor vehicles (IKD). The measure is meant to increase the local production of cars and to increase the domestic value added in the production. Vehicles above 5 tonnes are explicitely excluded from the duty.
Furthermore, certain parts and components for motor vehicles are subject to a 2.5 per cent import duty. A complete list can be found in the sources.
The duty rate increased to 10 percent in 2011 and busses/trucks are now subject to a 5-10 per cent duty.
