Anti-dumping

On June 15, 2012, the Indian authorities initiated a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of acetone from the European Union, South Africa, Singapore and the United States of America. The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code: 2914.1100.
 
On December 13, 2013, the Indian authorities upon decided the continuation of the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of acetone from the European Union, South Africa, Singapore and the United States of America. The amount of the duty is USD 277.85 per metric ton for imports originating in the European Union. The amount of the duty is USD 213.76 per metric ton for imports originating in the United States of America. The amount of the duty is USD 179.65 per metric ton for imports originating in South Africa, at the exception of the company Sasol Solvents whose exports are subject to a duty of USD 141.95 per metric ton. The amount of the duty ranges from USD 147.15 to USD 240.60 per metric ton for imports originating in Singapore, depending on the company. The resolution was published in the Gazette of India on December 13, 2013. Notification No. 10/2014-Customs was issued on March 11, 2014.

On 6 July 2018, the Indian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from the European Union, South Africa, Singapore and the United States. This follows the application lodged by SI Group India Pvt. Ltd. and Deepak Phenolics Ltd. and Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited.

On 25 March 2019, the Indian authorities extended the definitive duty imposed on imports of acetone from the European Union, South Africa, Singapore and the United States following the conclusion of a sunset review. The rate of duty on imports from Singapore USD 56.91 or USD 121.04 per tonne depending on the company. The rate of duty on imports from the European Union is USD 277.85 per tonne. The rate of duty on imports from South Africa is USD 179.65 per tonne. The rate of duty on imports from the United States is USD 213.76 per tonne. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
