Import tariff

On 29 January 2014, the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) adopted General Resolution 3586 which introduces reference prices on imports of items to play table tennis originating various Asian countries. The goods figure under Mercosur Nomenclature 9506.40.00 and carry the following prices which represent free on board values:

  • tables: USD 1.15kg
  • rackets: USD 1.80kg
  • balls: USD 2.8kg
  • all other items for table tennis: USD 1.8kg

 
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature for importgoods in June 2005. The stated purpose is to strengthen customscontroland prevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provideguarantees for the difference in duties and taxes if the declared priceof an import is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report). The measure took effect on 6 February 2014.
