ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 14 November 2013, the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) adopted General Resolution 3546 which increases the reference prices on imports of vests, sweaters, and cardigans out of wool, cotton, and synthetic fibers from Asian and Latin American countries (see 'Affected Trading Partners'). The items figure under the HS-Code 6110 and the corresponding reference prices range from USD 7.7unit to USD 36/unit free on board (FOB).
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature for import goods in June 2005. The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control and prevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guarantees for the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of an import is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report). A list with all current reference prices can be consulted under: www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf
The abovementioned measure took effect on 18 November 2013 and suspends General Resolution 3087 of 8 April 2011 (see 'Related Measures').
