On August 26, 2008, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China decided to initiate a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of pyrocatechol from the European Union.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 2907.2910.
This follows the application lodged on May 26, 2008 by Lianyungang Sanjili Chemical Industries Co. Ltd. on behalf of the domestic industry.
On August 25, 2009, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China decided upon the continuation of the anti-dumping duty on imports of pyrocatechol originating in the European Union (MOFCOM Announcement No. 53 of 2009, 25.08.2009). This duty entered into force on August 26, 2009 and is applicable for a period of five years.
According to the UN Comtrade Database, in 2008 the following EU member states exported goods classified under HS code 2907.29 to China with a trade value over USD 1 million: France (USD 18.05 million) and Italy (USD 5.43 million).
On August 25, 2014, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China announced that the duty imposed on imports of pyrocatechol originating in the European Union will terminate on August 25, 2014 since no application has been filled for an extension (MOFCOM Announcement No. 55 of 2014, 25.08.2014).
