Anti-subsidy

On December 26, 2012, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to initiate an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of acrylic yarns from Indonesia (Circular No. 70, 26.12.2012).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 5509.3100, 5509.3200, 5509.6100, 5509.6200 and 5509.6900.
The complaint was lodged by Paramount Têxteis Indústria e Comércio S.A. on April 27, 2012. The investigation started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on December 27, 2012.
On November 1, 2013, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to extend for up to six months, from December 27, 2013, the investigation period to determine the existence of subsidisation in exports of acrylic yarns from Indonesia to Brazil (Circular No. 65, 01.11.2013).
On June 20, 2014, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to terminate the investigation without imposing a countervailing duty (Circular No. 37, 20.06.2014). Reason for this decision is that the margin of subsidies has been found to be de minimis. Circular No. 37 was published in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil on June 25, 2014.
