On November 29, 2013, the European Commission announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on imports of monosodium glutamate from Indonesia (Notice No 2013/C 349/04).
The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code: ex 2922.4200.
The complaint was lodged on October 16, 2013 by Ajinomoto Foods Europe SAS, company representing 100% of the EU production of the subject good.
On August 20, 2014, the European Commission decided to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of monosodium glutamate originating in Indonesia (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 904/2014). The rate of the duty ranges from 7.0% to 28.4% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price, depending on the company. This definitive duty entered into force on August 22, 2014 and will apply for a period of six months. Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 904/2014 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (L 246) on August 21, 2014.
On January 21, 2015, the European authorities decided to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of monosodium glutamate originating in Indonesia (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2015/84, 21.01.2015). The rate of this definitive duty is 28.4% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price, at the exception of the companies PT. Cheil Jedang Indonesia and PT. Miwon Indonesia whose exports are subject to a duty of 7.2% and 13.3% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price respectively. This duty entered into force on the day following the publication of the regulation in the Official Journal of the European Union (L 15), i.e. on January 23, 2015.
