On December 13, 2013, the Government of México modified the Most Favored Nation (MFN) import duties applicable to several products classified under 47 codes of the Mexican Tariff Schedule.
In particular, the Decree:
n Eliminates item 8506.10.01.- electrical and manganese dioxide batteries.
n Reduces to 0% the MFN duties applicable to goods classified under the following 4 new tariff codes;
n Reduces to 0% the MFN duties applicable to prescription drugs classified under 21 codes of headings 3003 and 3004. Previously these products paid import duties of 15%.
n Reduces to 7% the MFN duties applicable to drawing tables, computer work stations and lecterns. Formerly these goods paid 0% duties.
n Increases up to 20% the MFN duties applicable to green tomatoes, lemons and limes, maize, sorghum, biologically secured cabinets and computer work stations. Originally these goods paid 0% and 5% duties.
n Establishes tariff-rate-quotas applicable to fish filets, tomatoes, lemons and limes and vegetable oils.
These amendments entered into force on December 14, 2013.
