On October 11, 2013, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of galvanized steel wires (diameter between 1.70 and 3.50 mm) from Sweden (Circular No. 60, 11.10.2013).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7217.2010 and 7217.2090.
The complaint was lodged on April 30, 2013 by Belgo Bekaert Arames Ltda. and Morlan S.A. The investigation started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on October 14, 2013.
On October 9, 2014, the Brazilian authorities decided to extend for up to six months, from October 14, 2014, the investigation period to determine the existence of dumping in exports of galvanized steel wires from Sweden (Circular No. 60, 09.10.2014). Circular No. 60 was published in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil on October 10, 2014.
On January 28, 2015, the Brazilian authorities decided to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the above-mentioned products originating in Sweden (Resolution No. 4, 28.01.2015). The amount of the duty is USD 501.42 per metric ton, at the exception of the company Pacwire AB whose exports are subject to a duty of USD 245.41 per metric ton.
This definitive duty entered into force on the day of the publication of the resolution in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on January 30, 2015, and is applicable for a period of five years.
