Anti-dumping

On August 11, 2009, the European Commission announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on imports of dry sodium gluconate from China (Notice No 2009/C 188/10).
The complaint was lodged on June 30, 2009 by the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) on behalf of producers representing more than 50% of the EU production of the subject good.
The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code: ex 2918.1600.
 
On May 3, 2010, the Commission decided to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of dry sodium gluconate from China (Commission Regulation (EU) No 377/2010). The rate of the duty is 53.4% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price, at the exception of the companies Shandong Kaison Biochemical Co., Ltd. and Qingdao Kehai Biochemistry Co. Ltd. whose exports are subject to a duty of 5.6% and 27.3% respectively. The duty is applicable for a period of 6 months, starting on May 5, 2010.
Commission Regulation (EU) No 377/2010 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (L 111) on May 4, 2010.
 
On October 25, 2010, the European authorities decided to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of dry sodium gluconate from China (Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No 965/2010). The rate of the duty is 53.2% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price, at the exception of the companies Shandong Kaison Biochemical Co., Ltd., Wulian County, Rizhao City and Qingdao Kehai Biochemistry Co. Ltd., Jiaonan City whose exports are subject to a duty of 5.6% and 27.1% respectively. This definitive duty entered into force on October 29, 2010.
Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No 965/2010 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (L 282) on October 28, 2010.
 
On October 27th, 2015, the European Commission announced the initiation of a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of sodium gluconate originating in China (Notice No 2015/C 355/07).
This sunset review follows the application lodged on July 1st, 2015 by Jungbunzlauer S.A. and Roquette Italia S.p.A. on behalf of producers representing more than 25% of the EU production of the subject good.
 
On 21 January 2017, the European Commission extended the definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of subject good from China following the conclusion ofthe above sunset review (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/94). The rate of duty is between 5.6% and 53.2% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price before duty depending on the company.
