ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On June 7, 2013 upon the advice of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), the South African Revenue Service (SARS) published the elimination of the tariff on polyether-polyols (HS 3907.20.15). While EU-member countries had enjoyed duty free treatment even prior to the change, a tariff of 3.8% applied on imports EFTA-countries, and a tariff of 10% for imports from all other countries.
The ITAC based its decision on the finding that polyether-polyols are no longer produced in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and that the existing customs duty has an unnecessary cost-raising impact on downstream producers.
