On 5 August 2013, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) released resolution no. 61/13 reducing import tariffs from 14% to either 2% or 0% on 183 capital goods. The goods were labeled as tariff exceptions (ex-tarifários) to the Mercosur Common External Tariff. Out of the 183 capital goods, 157 are new ex-tarifarios, whereas the remaining 26 products have been renewed. The measure affects mainly the naval (57.28), steel (8.46), and civil construction (5.33) sector.
The resolution also amends various preceding Camex resolutions by either altering the descriptions of ex-tarifarios or by revoking them.

The measure came into effect on 5 August 2013 and lasts until 31 December 2014.
