On June 6, 2013, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, initiated a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of acetone from South Korea.
The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code: 2914.1100.
This review follows the application lodged by M/s Hindustan Organic Chemicals Limited on behalf of the domestic industry.
While initiating the sunset review, the Indian authorities decided on June 25, 2013 to extend up to June 9, 2014 the existing definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on June 10, 2008 by Notification No. 75/2008-Customs (Notification No. 12/2013-Customs (ADD), 25.06.2013). The amount of this duty is USD 67.33 per metric ton.
On July 28, 2014, the Indian authorities extended the time for completing the review up to December 5, 2014.
On December 4, 2014, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, issued its final findings of the sunset review. It recommended the continuation of the existing anti-dumping measure. On February 18, 2015, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification of extension of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of acetone originating in South Korea (Notification No. 05/2015-Customs (ADD), 18.02.2015). The amount of the duty is USD 79.75 per metric ton. This duty is effective for a period of five years.
The original anti-dumping duty was decided on May 9, 2008 and imposed by Notification No. 75/2008-Customs on June 10, 2008.
