Anti-dumping

On 8 April 2009, the European Commission initiated an anti-dumping investigation on certain molybdenum wires from China following a complaint received on February 23, 2009 lodged by the European Association of Metals (EUROMETAUX).
The product subject to the duty is classified under the following HS code: ex 8102.9600.

On 17 December 2009, the European Commission decided upon the imposition of a provisional anti-dumping duty on certain molybdenum wires. The rate of the duty is 64.3%. This provisional anti-dumping duty entered into force on 19 December 2009 for a period of six months.

On 14 June 2010, the European Commission decided upon the imposition of a definitive anti-dumping duty on the above-mentioned product. The rate of the definitive duty is identical to the rate of the provisional one, i.e. 64.3%. This definitive anti-dumping duty entered into force on 17 June 2010.

On 17 May 2011, the European Commission decided to initiate an anti-circumvention investigation on imports of certain molybdenum wires from Malaysia and Switzerland (see related intervention).

On 12 June 2015, the European Commission announced the initiation of a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of certain molybdenum wires from China (Notice No 2015/C 194/04, 12.06.2015).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 8102.9600.
This follows the request lodged on 13 March 2015 by Plansee SE, producer representing 25% of the total EU production of the subject goods.

On 30 June 2016, following the conclusion the above-mentioned sunset review, the European Commission extended the definitive anti-dumping duty on the above good from China (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/1046). The rate of the duty is 64.3%.

On 28 June 2021, the European Commission announced the initiation of a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of certain molybdenum wires from China. This follows the application lodged on 23 March 2021 by Plansee SE.
