Anti-dumping

On July 19, 2012, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of tires for motor cars from Chinese Taipei, Korea, Thailand and Ukraine (Circular No. 34, 19.07.2012). The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code: 4011.1000. The complaint was lodged by the National Association of the Tyre Industry (Associação Nacional da Indústria de Pneumáticos - ANIP) on December 29, 2011. The investigation started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on July 20, 2012. On January 15, 2014, the Brazilian authorities decided to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of tires for motor cars from Chinese Taipei, Korea, Thailand and Ukraine (Resolução No. 1, 15.01.2014). The amount of the duty in USD per kilogram is 1.43 for Taiwanese exporters, ranges from 0.14 to 2.56 for Korean exporters (depending on the company), from 1.32 to 1.35 for Thai exporters (depending on the company) and is 1.23 for Ukrainian exporters. This definitive duty has entered into force on January 16, 2014 for a period of five years.
