On June 12, 2002, Uruguayan authorities prohibited, indefinitely, the exportation of magnetic and non-magnetic stainless steel junk. Subsequently, on June 27, 2012, the Uruguayan Ministry of Economy allowed, for a period of 180 days, the exportation of these metal products.
By means of this decree, the Uruguayan authorities allow, indefinitely, for the exportation of magnetic and non-magnetic stainless steel junk.
This authorization applies to the following items of the MERCOSUR's Harmonized Tariff System: 7204.21.00.90 and 7204.21.00.10.
According to UN Comtrade, Uruguay's bilateral trade on the stated tariff line did not exceed USD 1 million for any single trading partner in 2012, the year prior to the imposition of this measure. Hence, no countries are listed as affected trading partners.
