On 9 April 2013, the Government of Argentina introduced reference prices applicable to the importation of knitted cotton and polyester fibers from China, India and other Asian countries. The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff line of MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 6005.2100 and 5514.1910.
 
These reference prices entered into force on 11 April 2013.
 
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005 (in Spanish: valores criterio decarácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthencustomscontrolandprevent under-invoicing. Importers arerequired toprovideguaranteesfor the difference in dutiesand taxes ifthedeclaredprice of animport is lower than itsreferenceprice(see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report).A list with all current import reference prices can be consulted under:www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf <U+200E>
