On April 25, 2012, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) issued an announcement that olive oil and distiller's grains (HS 1509.10.00; 1509.90.00; 1510.00.00; 2303.30.00) were to be included in the so-called 'Catalogue of staple agricultural products subject to import report administration', to take effect on June 1, 2012. This means that imports of these products must henceforth be reported to MOFCOM in a timely and truthful manner. According to the American Chamber of Commerce in China, violation can lead to exclusion from international trade with China of up to three years.
