ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On September 13, 2011, the European Commission announced the initiation of a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of chamois leather and combination chamois leather, whether or not cut to shape, including crust chamois leather and combination crust chamois leather from China (Notice No 2011/C 270/05).
This follows the request lodged on June 14, 2011 by the UK Leather Federation, representing more than 50% of the EU production of the subject good.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 4114.1010 and 4114.1090.
On December 3, 2012, the European authorities decided upon the continuation of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of chamois leather originating in China (Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1153/2012). The rate of the duty is 58.9% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price. The duty entered into force on the day following the publication of the regulation in the Official Journal of the European Union (L 334), that is on December 7, 2012.
The original anti-dumping duty was imposed by Council Regulation (EC) No 1338/2006 dated September 8, 2006 and published in the Official Journal of the European Union on September 14, 2006.
On 6 December 2017, the European Commission initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of chamois leather from China. This investigation follows the application lodged on 7 September 2017 by the UK Leather Federation.
