Anti-dumping

On 26 June 2012, the Malaysian authorities initiated an anti-dumping investigation on steel wire rod imported from China, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Republic of Korea and Turkey. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheadings: 7213.10; 7213.20; 7213.91 and 7213.99. The complaint was lodged by Amsteel Mills Sdn. Bhd.
 
On 23 October 2012, the Malaysian authorities imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of the above-mentioned products from China, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Republic of Korea and Turkey. The rate of this duty on imports from Chinese Taipei is 5.56% or 10.14% depending on the company. The rate of this duty on imports from Indonesia is 11.97% with the exception of the company PT Ispat Indo, which is exempt from anti-dumping duties. The rate of this duty on imports from the Republic of Korea is 26.47%. The rate of this duty on imports from China is 7.89% with the exception of the companies Jiangsu Shagang Group Co. Ltd. and Jiangsu Yonggang Group Co. Ltd., which are exempt from anti-dumping duties. The rate of this duty on imports from Turkey is 33.62% with the exception of the company Diler Dis Ticaret, which is exempt from anti-dumping duties. The measure is in force for a period of 120 days.
 
On 20 February 2013, the Malaysian authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on the subject product from China, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia and Republic of Korea. The rate of this duty on imports from Chinese Taipei is between 9.04% and 25.20% depending on the company. The rate of this duty on imports from Indonesia is 25.20% with the exception of the company PT Ispat Indo, which is exempt from anti-dumping duties. The rate of this duty on imports from the Republic of Korea is 3.03% or 25.20% depending on the company. The rate of this duty on imports from China is 25.20% with the exception of the companies Jiangsu Shagang International Trade Co. Ltd. and Jiangsu Yonggang Group Co. Ltd., which are exempt from anti-dumping duties. No anti-dumping duties were imposed on imports from Turkey and the investigation was subsequently terminated. The measure is in force for a period of five years.
 
On 19 February 2018, the Malaysian authorities terminated the definitive antidumping duty on imports of steel wire rods from Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea and China. The duty was terminated as it was set to expire.
