ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 22 May 2009 the President of Mongolia proposed abolishing the prevailing export tax on cashmere (HS code 611011), one of Mongolia's most valuable exports. The President sent draft legislation to the Mongolian Parliament that, in turn, approved a version of the measure in the week of 12 June 2009. The outcome was to abolish the export tax on cashmere entirely, to eliminate certain quality restrictions on the export of cashmere, and to increase from 3 to 20 the number of ports and airports allowed to export cashmere.
According to the data of 2008, the year prior to the liberalization, Mongolia exported less than the GTA threshold of 1'000'000 USD to bilateral trading partners. Hence, no bilateral trading partners are enumerated.
