Safeguard

On April 4, 2012 the government of Jordan initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of Bars and Rods of Iron and Steel.
On 16 June 2013, the Jordan government specified the final safeguard measure on the imports of bars and rods of iron and steel falling under HS codes: 7213.10, 7214.20, 7214.91, 7214.99, 7215.10, 7215.50 and 7215.90. The duty is in force for two and a half years by applying a specific surcharge of JD 80 (approx. USD 113) per ton for the first year, JD 70 (approx. USD 99) per ton for the second year and JD 60 (approx. USD 85) per ton for the last 6 months.
On 4 January 2016, Jordan submits its notification on cessation of a safeguard measure imposed on the imports of bars and rods of iron and steel, effective as from 16 December 2015.
