Safeguard

On November 3, 2008, the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Morocco extended a safeguard measure on imports of ceramic paving and wall tiles (HS 6908)
The following duties were imposed for the period of three years:
The safeguard measure consists of the imposition of an additional duty of 1.5 dirhams per net kilogram, coupled with an annual quota of 13.1 million m2 not subject to the additional duty.
 
The safeguard measure was initiated on August 18, 2005.
It consisted of the imposition, over and above the customs duty already in force, of a specific additional import duty of 1.5 dirhams per net kilogram, applicable to imports exceeding a certain annual quota of 7.07m million m2.
