On August 15, 2006, the Turkish government initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of motorcycles (including mopeds) and cycles flitted with an auxiliary motor under HS Code 8711

On March 1, 2007 a safeguard measure was put in place ranging between USD/piece 200-300 in the first year, USD/piece 190-285 in the second year and USD/piece 180-270 during the third year. Duty differences were on the 10-digit level.
The Duty only applied for motorcycles whose CIF value was below a certain threshold ranging from USD/piece 1200-2600 - differences on the 10-digit level.

On January 14, 2010 the measure was extended for another three year period with duties ranging from USD/piece 170-245 and thresholds between USD/piece 1200 and 2600.

On April 6, 2012 a new safeguard investigation was initiated, aiming at the extension of the measure.
