On 18 November 2011, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa initiated an anti-dumping investigation on fully treated screws with hexagon heads imported from China. The concerned HS code is 7318.1539. This follows the application lodged by South African Fasteners Manufacturers Association (SAFMA) representing 80% of the production volume in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).
On 4 May 2012, the South African Revenue Service imposed provisional duties on the subject good from China. The rate of duty is 104.5%. The measure is in force until and including 2 November 2012.
On 16 November 2012, the South African Revenue Service imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of the subject good from China. The rate of duty is between 11.09 and 73.93.
On 4 May 2018, the South African Revenue Service terminated the definitive duty imposed on imports of fully treated screws with hexagon heads imported from China retrospectively from 15 November 2017. The duty was terminated as no sunset review was initiated and the duty therefore expired.
