ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On April 3, 2012, the Government of Argentina introduced reference prices applicable to the importation of certain type of woven fabrics of synthetic staple fibres from China and other Asian countries. The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff lines of the MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 5512.11.00 and 5512.19.00.
These reference prices entered into force on April 9, 2012.
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature for imported goods in June 2005 (in Spanish: valorescriteriodecarácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control and prevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guarantees for the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of an import is lower than its reference price(see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report). A list with all current import reference prices can be consulted under:www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf <U+200E>
The Global Trade Alert designates countries as affected trading partners whose bilateral trade with the implementing jurisdiction has exceeded the minimum threshold of USD 1 million in the year prior to the imposition of a measure. Therefore, the affected countries enumerated by the Argentine government may not overlap completely with those identified by the GTA.
