Japan introduced a volume-based safeguard on butter and other fats and oils derived from milk and dairy spreads. The safeguard was in place between November 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009. The trigger level was at 10,258 tonnes, while the volume of the products under this category entering Japan amounted to 11,840 tonnes.
