NoOn 23th September 2011, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa issued the notice No. 644, accepting and announcing the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on frit classifiable under tariff subheading 3207.40 originating or imported from Brazil.
Ferro industrial Product (Pty) Ltd submitted a petition with sufficient evidence that enabled the commission to initiate the investigation on the basis of dumping, material injury and causality.
The period of investigation for the purpose of determining the dumping margin and material injury is 1 May 2010 to 30 April 2011 and 1 May 2008 to 30 April 2011 respectively.
On 13 July 2012, the South African authorities imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good from Brazil. The rate of duty is 41.68 or 100% depending on the company.
On 15 February 2013, the South African authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good from Brazil. The rate of duty is 24.65 or 50% depending on the company.
On 15 December 2017, the South African authorities initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from Brazil. The investigation follows the application lodged by Ferro South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
On 15 June 2018, the South African authorities extended the definitive duty on imports of frit from Brazil following the conclusion of the sunset review. The rate of duty is 50%.
