Import tariff

On September 30, 2011, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of certain type of textured yarn of nylon. The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff lines of the MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 5402.31.19 and 5402.45.20.

The new import criterion values have been increased from a FOB value ranging between USD USD 3.00 and USD 5.00 per kilogramme to a FOB value ranging between USD 4.30 and USD 5.80 per kilogramme depending on the product for NCM USD 3.00 and USD 5.00 per kilogramme, whereas in the case of NCM 5402.31.19, the new reference prices have been increased from a FOB value ranging between USD 4.70 and USD 7.34 per kilogramme to a FOB value ranging between USD 5.30 and USD 8.30 per kilogramme depending on the characteristics of the product. The previous applicable reference prices were set by General Resolution 2891/2010 and External Notice 72/2009 respectively.

Originally, the reference price on NCM 5402.45.20 applied to the Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands and Portugal. With the new legislation, the application of this reference price has been extended to Austria Luxemburg, the United Arab Emirates and Israel.

These reference prices entered into force on October 3, 2011.

Import Criterion Values
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature for imported goods in June 2005 (in Spanish:valorescriteriodecarácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control and prevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guarantees for the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of an import is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report). A list with all current import reference prices can be consulted under www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf
