In May 2009 Sudan is said to have banned the movement of livestock through its airports and ports. The Saudi Arabia Chamber of Commerce in Al-Sharqiyah announced receiving a report from the Council of Saudi Chambers on the 26 May 2009; the latter report is said to have been based on one published by the Saudi Ministry of Trade and Industry number (518/230) on 23 May 2009.
