On July 29, 2011, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of certain type of toys, games, playing cards, Christmas trees and balloons from China and other Asian countries.
The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff lines of MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 9503.00.10, 9503.00.21, 9503.00.22, 9503.00.31, 9503.00.39, 9503.00.60, 9503.00.80, 9503.00.91, 9503.00.97, 9503.00.98, 9503.00.99, 9504.40.00, 9504.90.90, 9505.10.00 and 9505.90.00.
These reference prices were effective on August 2, 2011.
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005 (inSpanish:valorescriteriodecarácterpreventivo).Thestatedpurpose is tostrengthencustomscontrolandpreventunder-invoicing.
