ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 24 February 2010 the European Commission announced to temporarily suspend import duties on certain cereal products for the marketing year 2010/2011.
The motive for this measure is the rapid increase in the world cereal prices, and the prices in the EU market have followed the same trend. The measure is an attempt to facilitate the low of cereal imports to the European Union.
On 29 June 2011, the European Commission renewed the temporary suspension for the first six month of the marketing year 2011/2012 (until 31 December 2011). Another Regulation from 20 December 2011 prolonged the suspension for the rest of the marketing year 2011/2012 , until 30 June 2012.
On 28 June 2012, the European Commission decided to prolong the suspension for the first half of marketing year 2012/2013, until 31 December 2012. On 28 November 2012, the measure was finally extended until 30 June 2013 and suspended afterwards.
