Anti-dumping

The United States International Trade Commission determined (http://www.usitc.gov/press_room/news_release/2012/er0417kk1.htm) on April 17, 2012 that a U.S. industry is not materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports of bottom mount refrigerator-freezers fromKorea that the U.S. Department of Commerce had determined are subsidized and from Korea and Mexico that Commerce has determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value. This brings to an end an investigation that began with a a pair of petitions filed on March 30, 2011, Whirlpool Corporation seeks the imposition of anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duties (CVD) against imports into the United States of bottom-mount combination refrigerator-freezers from Korea (AD and CVD) and Mexico (AD only).
The petitioners alleged dumping margins of 27.1-183.2% for Mexico and 33.8-61.8% for Korea, and that Korean producers also benefit from a variety of countervailable subsidies.
