Anti-dumping

Effective February 1, 2011, the United States imposed an anti-dumping duty of 3.08% on polyvinyl alcohol imported from Taiwan (also known as Chinese Taipei). In contrast to most such investigations, this one was based not on very recent imports but instead those conducted in an earlier period (i.e., July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004). The reason for the delay is that this investigation was originally initiated in September, 2004, based on a petition filed at that time, but was terminated after the U.S. International Trade Commission (USIITC) reached a preliminary determination of no injury. The Department of Commerce resumed the investigation after that USITC determination was reversed upon remand.
