On 11 March 2011, Notice no. 195increased the customs duty on bars, profiles and rods of aluminium from free of duty to 5% ad valorem. The customs duty is being reinstated, as it was decreased from 5% to free of duty on 24 July 2009.
The duty applies to the following subheadings:
Member states of the EU, EFTA and the Southern African Development Community continue to be exempted from an import tariff on the abovementioned items.
Certain types of aluminium products under HS 7604 remain free of duty. In order to assure this, the rebate provision 316.01/7604/01.04 was reinstated with Notice no. 197:
Affected trading partners
The GTA retrieves its data on affected trading partners from UN Comtrade. However, for the year 2010, the database was not able to provide the affected trading partners for Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland.
