On November 2, 2010, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of extruded nets of polyethene or polypropylene from several Asian, European and Latin American countries. The product subject to this measure is classified under the following tariff lines of MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 3926.90.90.
The new reference prices were set at a FOB value of USD 2.80, USD 3.20 and USD 3.50 per kilogramme depending on the origin. Previously, no reference price applied to this product.
The new legislation affected the following jurisdictions: the Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, China, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Japan and Netherlands .
The measure took effect on 4 November 2010.
Import Criterion Values
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature for imported goodsinJune2005(in Spanish:valorescriteriodecarácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control and prevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guarantees for the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of an import is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report).
