On February 9, 2011, the Federal Administration for Public Revenue of Argentina (AFIP) adopted General Resolution 3026/2011 increasing the reference prices applicable to the importation of slide fasteners and parts thereof from originating in certain locations.
The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff line of MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 9607.11.00 and 9607.20.00.
The new reference prices have been increased from a FOB value of USD 6.48 and USD 3.87 per kilogramme to a FOB value of USD 9.00 and USD 5.00 per kilogramme respectively. The previously applicable values were set at External Notice 91/2008.
This General Resolution affects the following jurisdictions: the Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru and Venezuela.
These reference prices entered into force on February 11, 2011.
Import Criterion Values
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimportedgoodsinJune2005(in Spanish: valores criterio de carácter preventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control and prevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guarantees for the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of an import is lower than its reference price(see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report).
