Anti-dumping

On 20 December 2010, Brazil through its Secretary of Foreign Trade (SECEX) made public its decision to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on the imports of certain types of line pipe steel carbon tubes from China.
This product is classified under the code 7304.19.00 of Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM).
On 8 September 2011, a definitive anti-dumping duty was imposed of US$ 743.00/t (or 84.5%).

On 8 September 2016, the Brazilian authorities initiated a sunset review of the above anti-dumping duty on imports of certain carbon steel pipes used for oil and gas pipelines with a diameter of up to five inches from China (Circular No. 55, 08.09.2016). This review follows a petition lodged on 29 April 2016 by Vallourec Tubos do Brasil S.A.

On 22 August 2017, the Brazilian authorities extended the definitive antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China following the conclusion of the above sunset review. The rate of duty is USD 743 per tonne. The measure is in force for a period of five years.
