Import tariff

On 3 December 2010, the Federal Administration for Public Revenues of Argentina adopted General Resolution 2979 increasing the reference prices set on NCM 7013.28.00. Concretely, the import criterion values have increased from a FOB value of USD 1.20 per kilogramme to USD 1.60 per kilogramme.

This resolution affects the following jurisdictions: the Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, China, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Canada, United States of America, Mexico, Finland, Hungary, Norway, Poland, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romani, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.

The measure took effect on 6 December 2010.

Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimportedgoodsinJune2005 (in Spanish:valorescriteriodecarácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control and prevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guarantees for the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of an import is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report). A list with all current import reference prices can be consulted under:www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf
