Export ban

The government has lifted the ban on the export of cereals such as maize and sorghum, imposed in 2007. The ban came into force as a result of high grain prices and has been lifted due to low prices on the domestic market.
According to the UN Comtrade database, in 2006, that is prior to the ban, Ethiopia exported goods classified under HS codes 1001 to 1008 with a trade value over the GTA threshold of USD 1 million only to Israel.
