Import tariff

On April 29th, 2010, the Brazilian government announced temporary tariff reduction on the ad-valorem import duty from 10% to 2% for palm kernel other than crude and from 12% to 2% for refined copper foil and other electrodes of carbon. These products are classified under the codes 1513.29.10, 7410.21.10 and 8545.19.90 ofthe Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM), respectively.
 
It is important to note that this tariff reduction was implemented for reasons of shortage, under Resolution No. 69/00 of the Common Market Group of
Mercosur.
 
The tariff reductions are limited to the following quotas:
 
Product 1513.29.10: 150,000 tons
Product 7410.21.10: 450,000 units
Product 8545.19.90: 10,000 tons
