On 13 October 2016, the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of ceramic tablewares and kitchen wares, excluding knives and toilet items, originating in or exported from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes:6911 and 6912. This investigation follows the application lodged by All India Pottery Manufacturers' Association and the Indian Ceramic Society.
On 12 June 2017, the Indian Ministry of Finance imposed a provisional antidumping duty on the subject goods from China. The amount of the duty is USD 1.04 per kilogram. The provisional duty is in force for a period of six months.
On 21 February 2018, the Indian authorities imposed a definitive antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from China. The rate of duty is USD 1.04 per kg. The duty is in force for a period of five years from the date of imposition of provisional antidumping duty, i.e. 12 June 2017.
