Import ban

On 1 April 2010, the Ugandan government imposed an import ban for used electronic equipment. The measure was proposed in the budget speech for 2009 by Finance and Economic Planning minister Syda Bbumba.

The ban of all used computers, freezers and refridgerators was planned to be effective from 1 June 2009. Due to protesting retailers, the ban was postponed twice to 1 October 2009 and finally to 1 April 2010.
