On 22 August 2016, the Commission on Distortions of Chile initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of certain steel wire from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7213.2000, 7213.91.10, 7213.91.20, 7213.91.90, 7213.99.00, 7227.10.00, 7227.20.00 and 7227.90.00. The request was lodged by Compañía Siderúrgica Huachipato S.A.
On 22 October 2016, the Chilean authorities imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on the subject good from China. The rate of duty is 40.6% and is in force for a period not exceeding four months.
On 22 February 2017, the Chilean authorities extended the above provisional duty on imports of the subject good from China for a period 2 additional months and is amended. The rate of duty is from the above date is between 18.6% and 40.6%.
On 22 April 2017, the Chilean authorities imposed a definitive antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from China. The rate of duty is between 28.8% and 38% depending on the company. The duty is in force for a period of one year.
On 22 April 2018, the Chilean authorities terminated the definitive duty imposed on imports of certain steel wire from China as the duty was set to expire after one year.
