No On 24 October 2013, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry partially relaxed an export ban on sanders wood.
Through Notification No. 47(RE-2013)/2009-2014, the Indian government allowed the export of 9784 Metric Tons of Red Sanders wood in log form. This allowance is divided between the state of Andhra Pradesh (8584 MT) and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (1200 MTs) from the confiscated/seized stock of such wood. The export process for this quota is allowed until 31 December 2014.
The time allowed for completing the export qutoa has subsequently been extended with the current deadline being fixed at 30 April 2017. Further, the export quota for Andra Pradesh stock has been reduced from 8584 MT to 8498 MT.
According to UN Comtrade, bilateral trade on the stated tariff line did no exceed USD 1 million for a single trading partner in 2012, the year prior to the imposition of this measure. Hence, no countries are listed as affected trading partners.
