On 5 August 2016, the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of ammonium nitrate originating in or exported from Russia, Indonesia, Georgia and Iran. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheading: 3102.30.00. This investigation follows the application lodged by Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited and Smartchem Technologies Limited.
On 12 September 2017, the Indian Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue imposed a definitive antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from Russia, Indonesia, Georgia and Iran. The rate of duty on imports from Russia is USD 11.42 or 25.00 per tonne depending on the company. The rate of duty on imports from Indonesia is USD 26.07 per tonne. The rate of duty on imports from Georgia is USD 53.99 per tonne. The rate of duty on imports from Iran is USD 60.35 per tonne. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
